WORLD WAR II
Welcome to Spring Term Two in Eagles.
Our wonderful topic this term is WORLD WAR II and I am very excited to be teaching about this fascinating period of History. It will be a very busy term (especially for our Y6 children) as we are now heading into the final term before their SATs which will begin on the 11th of May. Y6 parents, please continue to support your children to achieve all that they can but reiterate to them that whilst SATs are important, they're just a small glimpse of who they're and they do not show all the non-academic skills and strengths which your children have.
Parents of those children in Y4 and 5, please continue to help and support your children with their homework as well as reading and times tables. Y4 parents, the children will be taking part in the government Times Tables Test in June this year so it is important that the children practice regularly to achieve all that they can. As you're aware, Mrs Bowler will be holding her times tables club every morning before school and all year 4 children are invited to join. If you have any further questions regarding this then please speak to either myself or Mrs Bowler.
If you have any others questions then please don't hesitate to come and speak to me either before or after school.

Welcome to another half term in Eagles.
This half term we will be continuing with our topic of, 'Space,' but also looking at Ironville and Derbyshire in the 1960's. In keeping with October's, 'Black History Month,' we will be using the film, 'Hidden Figures,' as a stimulus for learning about NASA and the African-American women who served a vital role during the early years of the U.S space program.
Some of our children will also be looking forward to their Kingswood residential this half term - I know that they will have a fantastic time. Parents, there will be a meeting regarding this on Monday 3rd November.

I hope that you have enjoyed a wonderful summer of family fun and that the children are ready for a term packed with lots of hard work but great fun too. Look below for the topic plan and a few web site links to use to support learning this term.
Eagles PE is on a Tuesday and a Thursday. It is important that the correct kit is in school before these sessions.
Spellings are given out on a Thursday in Eagles and the children are tested the following Thursday. Please could you help your child with these and listen to your child read at least 3 times a week in order them to build their confidence, stamina and speed. The children have access to the library bus once a month and there will be text reminders of the dates. Below there are some book recommendations for your child.
As Y6 parents will know, the children will be sitting their SATs in May. They must keep working at home; completing their homework and taking part in any extra revision that you can find time for! Y4 parents, the children have a times tables assessment at the end of the year so please keep working on these.
If there are any concerns or questions then please do come and speak to me!
