Spring Term Lockdown Photographs

Eden has produced a great letter persuading children to look after school equipment and be good custodians.

Here are two of our children being custodians by making bug huts using recyclable material at home.

The children have been learning about looking after our local environment, being custodians. They enjoyed helping out their immediate local environment by moving the mountain of bark on the playground into the forest outdoor learning area.

Maths: length and height: The children have been comparing length and height. We have also been measuring using non-standard units of measurement to measure objects.

Be unique: Natural art. The children have been using natural materials to create art using natural materials.

Here is Paige and Jayden taking a wintery walk through Ironville. How lovely does it look! Although... it looks very cold.
In science we have been learning about space including the solar system. The children have been researching key vocabulary related to space. They have designed their own rocket and spacesuit describing the materials it is made from and why. The children even designed their own planet.

Look at one of our children carrying out his own science experiment by creating a storm in a glass.

In DT we have been designing our own sandwich. The children have enjoyed designing and here are some of the finished products.

We have started a new topic in English learning about discussions. Our question is "Should animals live in zoos?" We have been looking at the live webcams from Edinburgh zoo to help with our discussion work. The children are enjoying the topic.

Unfortunately we couldn't have Derbyshire Fire Service in school, so we did it remotely from a video that they provided us.

We learnt about how to keep safe and to try and prevent fires, how smoke alarms work and why they are important and even what to do if we catch fire where we STOP, DROP and ROLL. The children enjoyed learning about this and engaging with the activities. We also discussed how we should stay away from lighters and matches and to keep them out of reach. We made 3 actions to go with this.

Arms up - out of reach

Eyes covered - out of sight

Crossed arms - out of harm
