Welcome back to the second half of the summer term - only 7 weeks to go! This half term will be filled with fantastic projects and activities including; the butterfly project, Father's day, wonderful world week and being by the seaside! The children will have lots of first hand experience learning about China and take part in traditional games, activities and tasting traditional food, we will also look at the great wall of China and the terracotta army.  We will also be completing a project about our oceans and the importance of recycling and keeping our oceans free of plastic to helps the animals which live there. 

Our books this term include  'Tiddler' ' The Cautious Caterpillar' 'Nelson's Dangerous Dive' and 'Dragons in the City'.

Our PE days continue to be on a Monday and Thursday so please ensure that your child has the correct PE kit for these days. The online Phonics Bug books continue to be available and will be updated for your child every couple of weeks. There are more than 20 books to read so please have a browse and read one with your child.  

Finally, as Summer is approaching and the sun is getting stronger please ensure that your child comes to school with sun cream applied and a cap to protect their head, one which covers the back of their neck would be best.  As usual, any questions please come and see myself or a member of the EYFS team.

Wonderful World Week! We have looked at China, we tried some Tai Chi, made the Great Wall of China and then made dragon masks!

Money week! We did lots of great activities this week including going to the shop! The children counted out their money and we walked to the shop to buy a chocolate biscuit - which they ate on their way back!

Jumping in puddles! The rain doesn't stop Wrens!

Welcome back and I hope you all had a wonderful Easter break! Although this half term is only 4 weeks it is packed full of great activities including fruit tasting, exploring plants and making their own fruit salad which all form our topic 'How can we grow our own salad?' Reception will be working alongside this topic with their topic 'Healthy eating' which will explore similar themes as the Year Ones. Our books this half term include Handa's Surprise, The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch and I will never not eat a tomato which will link to our writing. 

Please remember to log onto Bug Club and explore and read the range of online books alongside reading your child's book they take home each night. We also have a library  book system for borrowing books to read with your child and returning during the week and please look out for our going home bags which continue to be passed around the class.  Our PE sessions continue to be on a Monday and Thursday so please make sure that your child has kit.  If you have any comments or questions please come and see myself or a member of the EYFS team. Baking with Mrs Gant! The children loved making fairy cakes with Mrs Gant - thank you so much!!

Green Land Toast! We read ' I will Never Ever Eat a Tomato' with Charlie and Lola and decided to make our own food which could be something else! We then wrote to Lola to persuade her to eat it!

Spring Term Two

We have been learning all about babies! A baby came in to visit us and we talked about what a baby needs, we then made a baby book for Mrs Grundy!

Jack and the Beanstalk - We came into the classroom and found a beanstalk with a giant's legs hanging down!! We then planted and looked after our own seeds and are watching them grow.

Pancake Day! We made pancakes, ate pancakes and had pancake races!

Autumn Term Two

Hello again! A big welcome back after the half term break! I hope you all had a relaxing time. This half term our topic is Light and Dark, we will be looking at fireworks, sources of light and animals which are nocturnal. We will also be looking at Diwali and Christmas and the celebrations around these. Yr1 ones will be spending time on the computers and learning how to create and save simple documents and how to program Beebots. 

PE sessions remain on a Monday and Thursday morning so please ensure that your child has their PE kit with them. Music and Movement will begin again on Friday 16th November - I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible for singing and moving! Finally, please keep reading with your child as many times as possible during the week.

Topic Web Autumn 2018

MAGIC WEEK! We carved pumpkins, made potions, played with a spooky small world and made cats and owls based on the story 'Meg and Mog'. We had a lt of fun!!

We made teddy bears from toast, banannas and jam - they were super yummy!

We had a road safety talk in Wrens and we spoke about how to keep safe when walking and how to keep safe when we are in the car. It was very important and the children had lots of good ideas about how we keep safe.
