This page has been created to support children if the school needs to close due to weather, maintenance, or other unforeseen circumstances.
At Ironville and Codnor Park, we are committed to ensuring learning continues effectively even when pupils cannot be in school. Our Remote Learning offer is designed to be high‑quality and closely reflect the teaching children receive in the classroom, helping maintain routine and progress.
Our aim is to make Remote Learning accessible, manageable, and engaging for all families. If the school closes, this page will be your main hub for updates, learning activities, and support.
If the school needs to close for a short period, we will share a set of learning activities on our school website, located in the Remote Learning class pages. These activities are planned to keep children engaged, support their routines, and help them continue learning at home.
Each activity will include guidance on how long it should take, making it easier for you to structure the day in a manageable way.
If the school needs to close for a longer period, we will provide each child with a Remote Learning activity pack to support their learning at home. These packs reflect the key areas of the curriculum and include a range of tasks that children can complete independently or with adult support.
Each activity will include guidance on the recommended time to spend on it, helping you structure the day in a manageable and consistent way.
For our vulnerable children, we will offer continued support during any long‑term period of remote learning. Staff will make two weekly phone calls, one at the start of the week and one at the end, to check on wellbeing, provide learning advice, and offer ongoing guidance.
Some families may also receive additional support calls or, where appropriate, home visits. If we are unable to reach you, staff will leave a message with the time of the call and try again. If we are still unable to make contact after several attempts, a home visit may be carried out to ensure your child’s wellbeing and offer any support needed.
Pupils are expected to engage with Remote Learning each day and complete the activities provided to the best of their ability. The suggested timings below are approximate and are intended only as a rough guide to help families structure the day in a manageable way.
