Physical Education plays a crucial role in fostering every child's physical and mental health and well-being. The fundamental physical and social skills developed through PE establish the groundwork for a healthy lifestyle that extends from their school years into adulthood. Our PE program offers a balanced approach, incorporating individual, team, cooperative, and competitive activities, all of which reinforce school's R.E.S.P.E.C.T. behaviors.
Intent:
At Ironville and Codnor Park Primary School, we are dedicated to providing a comprehensive and inspiring physical education and sports program for all our pupils. We achieve this by proudly following the schemes of work developed by Amber Valley Sports Partnership, which align with our core intent to foster well-rounded, healthy, and confident individuals. We are also fortunate to have a dedicated sports coach who works alongside our teaching staff.
Our commitment to your children focuses on several key areas:
Inspiring Excellence and Participation: We aim to inspire every pupil to succeed and excel, not only in competitive sports but also in a wide variety of physically demanding activities. We believe in nurturing their potential and encouraging a lifelong love of movement.
Promoting Physical Confidence and Well-being: We provide a diverse range of opportunities for pupils to develop physical confidence, which is crucial for their overall health and fitness. Through engaging activities, children build essential motor skills and a positive relationship with physical activity.
Fostering Healthy Competition and Character Development: We offer abundant opportunities for children to participate in sporting activities, both within the school and through external competitions. These experiences are invaluable for building character and embedding vital values such as teamwork, fairness, and respect.
Developing Broad Competence: Our curriculum is designed to help children develop competence across a broad range of physical activities. This ensures they acquire a diverse skill set, preparing them for future sporting endeavors and an active lifestyle.
Cultivating Lifelong Healthy Habits: We ensure that children are physically active for sustained periods, and we educate them on the significant physical and mental health benefits of regular physical activity. Our goal is to empower them with the knowledge and habits needed to lead a healthy lifestyle throughout their lives.
Through our partnership with the Amber Valley Sports Partnership, we are confident that we are equipping our pupils with the skills, values, and understanding necessary to thrive physically, emotionally, and socially.
