Great Fire of London

We will be learning about the Great Fire of London as part of our history topic. We will explore how the fire started in 1666, why it spread so quickly, and how it changed London. Through stories, historical sources, maps, role-play, and creative activities, children will learn about key events and people, including Samuel Pepys and King Charles II. We will develop their understanding of the past, compare life in London then and now, and build important historical skills such as asking questions, ordering events chronologically, and using evidence to find out about the past. This exciting topic will help bring history to life while encouraging curiosity and enquiry.

Observational drawing

In Art, the children will be developing their observational drawing skills by carefully studying and drawing a range of objects. They will learn how to add detail and realism to their artwork through the use of shading, colour, and cross-hatching techniques. The children will explore how artists create light, shadow, texture, and tone, helping them to improve their accuracy and confidence when drawing from observation. Through a variety of creative activities, they will experiment with different materials and develop their artistic skills while expressing their own ideas.

PSHE

n PSHE, the children will be learning about emotions and wellbeing through the Zones of Regulation. They will develop their understanding of different feelings, learn how to recognise emotions in themselves and others, and explore how emotions can affect behaviour. Through discussions, stories, and practical activities, children will be taught a range of strategies to help them manage their feelings, regulate their emotions, and make positive choices. This work will support the children in developing self-awareness, resilience, and the confidence to express their feelings in a healthy and appropriate way.
