In History this term, we are exploring the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings. They will learn why these groups came to Britain, investigate artefacts such as Sutton Hoo, create timelines, and discover how these invaders and settlers shaped life in Britain. Pupils will develop their historical enquiry skills by analysing evidence & asking thoughtful questions.
In Science we are going to cover 2 topics:
Properties of materials
This half term, Year 5/6 pupils will investigate the properties of materials. They will compare and classify materials, explore dissolving and separating mixtures, and learn about solids, liquids and gases. Through practical investigations and fair tests, children will use evidence to explain why different materials are chosen for specific everyday uses.
Animals Including Humans
In the second half term will learn about Animals Including Humans, exploring the human life cycle from birth to old age. They will investigate mammal gestation periods, foetal development, growth and puberty, and the changes experienced during ageing. Through scientific enquiry, children will develop their understanding of human development and life processes.
