Welcome to Eagles Class!
Take a look around our class page to discover the exciting things we are learning throughout the year.
The class team:
Each child has a home reading diary and a reading book matched to their reading ability. Reading regularly at home is one of the most effective ways to support your child's progress and prepare them for the increased reading demands of Upper Key Stage 2.
Please encourage your child to read at least three times a week and record their reading in their diary. As children become more independent readers, discussing books can be just as valuable as listening to them read aloud.
You can support your child by:
Please sign the reading diary regularly. Further information and guidance can be found inside the diary.
Your child will receive login details for Times Tables Rock Stars, where they can practise their multiplication and division facts in a fun and engaging way.
You can also support your child's maths learning by using Hit the Button, which helps children develop rapid recall of number bonds, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division facts.
Maths is all around us, and everyday activities can make a big difference. Encourage your child to practise telling the time, handling money, measuring when cooking, reading timetables and solving real-life problems involving numbers. These experiences help to build confidence, fluency and resilience in mathematics.
Regular practice at home will help your child develop the skills needed for success in Upper Key Stage 2 and beyond.
PE takes place on Tuesday and Friday. Please ensure your child comes to school wearing their PE kit on these days and that all clothing is clearly labelled.
PE kit should include:
Homework expectations differ slightly between Year 5 and Year 6 to support children with their learning and preparation for the next stage of education.
Homework books must be signed by a parent or carer each week for children to earn points and rewards.
Each week, children are expected to complete:
Children can earn house points and rewards for completing their homework regularly.
Each week, children are expected to complete:
If homework is completed on paper, please record the dates of each practice session. Homework books should be brought back to school each week so that work can be checked and feedback provided.
Please send your child to school each day with a clearly labelled water bottle containing water only.
Children in Key Stage 2 may bring a healthy snack from home to enjoy at break time. Suitable snacks include:
Please do not send sweets, chocolate, crisps or fizzy drinks. Encouraging healthy choices helps children stay focused and ready to learn throughout the day.
If you have any questions, please contact the school office and ask to speak to a member of the class team.
