At Ironville and Codnor Park Primary School, we provide a broad, balanced and ambitious curriculum that encompasses all subjects within the National Curriculum and the wider curriculum with our 100 life skills.
Our curriculum is carefully designed to build progressively on children's knowledge, skills and understanding as they move through each phase of their education. Clear end points are identified for every year group through the National Curriculum and our Threshold Concepts, ensuring learning is sequential and purposeful.
We have high aspirations for every child and believe there should be no limits on what they can achieve. Alongside academic success, we are committed to developing confident, responsible and respectful individuals through the promotion of positive character traits and our RESPECT values.
Children are taught in mixed-age classes throughout the school, with the exception of Reception (EYFS). Teachers carefully plan and adapt learning to meet the needs, abilities and interests of all children, ensuring that learning is accessible, appropriately challenging and engaging for everyone.
A range of teaching approaches is used, including whole-class teaching, collaborative group work and targeted individual support, depending on the subject and learning objectives. Subjects are planned and taught discretely to ensure full curriculum coverage, whilst meaningful links between subjects are made where appropriate to deepen understanding and enrich learning experiences.
