Graduated Response to Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

Our graduated response to Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) provides a clear structured framework for identifying, assessing and supporting children with additional needs across the four broad areas of need: Cognition and Learning, Communication and Interaction, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH), and Physical and Sensory Needs.

The graduated approach ensures that support is delivered at the right level, at the right time, and is responsive to the individual needs of each child. It enables staff to identify emerging barriers to learning at the earliest opportunity and implement appropriate strategies before difficulties become more significant. By adopting a clear three-tier model, the school can ensure consistency, equity and accountability in its provision while promoting high aspirations and inclusion for all children.

Ultimately, the graduated response promotes early intervention, removes barriers to learning, supports emotional wellbeing, improves access to the curriculum, and enables every child to achieve their full potential.
