Welcome to Kingfishers Class!
Take a look around our class page to discover the exciting things we are learning throughout the year.
The class team:
Each child has a home reading diary and a reading book matched to their reading ability. Reading regularly at home is one of the most effective ways to support your child's progress.
Please read with your child at least three times a week and help them practise any phonemes, tricky words and spellings.
As well as listening to your child read, talk about the book together by discussing new vocabulary, asking questions about what they have read and encouraging them to make predictions.
Please sign the reading diary after each read. Further information and guidance can be found inside the diary.
Your child will receive login details for Times Tables Rock Stars, where they can practise their multiplication and division facts in a fun and engaging way.
You can also support your child's maths learning by using Hit the Button, which helps children develop addition and subtraction skills, number bonds, doubling and halving.
Maths is all around us, so everyday activities such as counting, telling the time, handling money, measuring when cooking and looking for patterns can help to build your child's confidence and fluency in mathematics.
PE takes place on Tuesday and Friday. Please ensure your child comes to school wearing their PE kit on these days and that all clothing is clearly labelled.
PE kit should include:
Some Year 3 children will begin swimming lessons on Friday 18th September. Further information, including a permission form, will be sent home before lessons begin.
Swimming is an important part of the PE curriculum and helps children develop confidence and water safety skills.
Each term, your child will receive a homework booklet containing fun activities, as well as reading, maths and tricky word practice.
Please support your child to complete the activities, sign them off and return the booklet to the class team every Monday. Homework is marked on Mondays, and children can earn points for completed work which can be exchanged for rewards and prizes.
Photos of completed homework can be emailed to:

Please send your child to school each day with a clearly labelled water bottle containing water only.
Children in Key Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2) are provided with a piece of fruit each day as part of their morning snack, so there is no need to send an additional snack from home.
Children in Key Stage 2 (Year 3 onwards) may bring a healthy snack from home to enjoy at break time. Suitable snacks include fruit, vegetables, cheese, or other healthy options. Please do not send sweets, chocolate or fizzy drinks.
If you have any questions, please contact the school office and ask to speak to a member of the class team.
