Spring Two

Music

In this unit of call and response, children will explore how instruments can represent animals. They copy rhythms, create their own patterns, and take part in call and response activities.

By the end, pupils will be able to:

  • Use loud and quiet sounds.
  • Play and clap in time with a beat.
  • Experiment with different instrumental sounds.
  • Show clear call and response skills.
  • Perform a simple composition.

Design Technology

This half term, children will be exploring simple mechanisms as they design and make their own toy cars. They will learn:

  • How wheels, axles and triangle joins help a model move and stay strong
  • How to use a saw safely and correctly
  • What makes an effective and appealing toy car design

This project helps children develop practical skills, creativity and confidence in using simple tools.

History

This half term, children will be exploring the history of our school. They will investigate:

  • When the school was built
  • What the school was like in the past
  • How school life then compares with school life today

This topic helps children develop curiosity about their local history and understand how their school has changed over time.
