In art, the children will be learning about weaving through a range of hands‑on creative experiences. They will develop skills in plaiting, knotting and threading, and will learn how to weave using a weft to create simple patterns and textures. Throughout the unit, the children will explore a variety of materials, including fabric, wool, paper and natural objects, to understand how different mediums can be used in weaving. They will also begin to recognise the difference between art and craft, and how weaving can be both a creative expression and a practical skill.
In Geography this half term, the children will be learning all about the weather and how it affects our daily lives. They will explore what weather is and how people adapt to different conditions around the world. The children will also learn about the equator and how a location’s position on the globe influences its climate. As part of the unit, they will discover the difference between weather and climate and will even have the chance to become mini weather reporters, practising how to describe and present weather information with confidence.
In Science this half term, the children will be learning all about plants and what they need to grow well. They will plan and carry out their own simple experiment to discover the conditions plants require to develop. The children will also learn the difference between seeds and bulbs, explore the life cycle of a plant, and find out what plants need not just to grow, but to truly thrive. This topic will help them build their scientific enquiry skills while deepening their understanding of the natural world.
