In Science this half term, the children will be learning all about plants and what they need to grow well. They will plan and carry out their own simple experiment to discover the conditions plants require to develop. The children will also learn the difference between seeds and bulbs, explore the life cycle of a plant, and find out what plants need not just to grow, but to truly thrive. This topic will help them build their scientific enquiry skills while deepening their understanding of the natural world.
In the first part of the Summer term our Geography will focus on volcanoes. We will looks at what a volcano is and how they are formed, recapping on previous science learning. The children will locate world famous Volcanos on a map – can we see a pattern?
We will use atlas' and maps to locate the Equator, Northern Hemisphere, Southern Hemisphere, the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn, Arctic and Antarctic Circle on a map – whilst investigating where most volcanos are found.
Not only will we label and identify the parts of a volcano but we will focus on the actual eruptions and recreate this ourselves. Thankfully we don't live close to any volcanoes.... or do we?
