Spring One
This term, we will be investigating living things such as plants and animals while exploring their varying habitats and microhabitats. We will compare the differences between things that are alive, dead and non-living. To understand the delicate balance of nature, we'll investigate food chains and discover what animals eat to survive. Finally, we'll trace the path of our food, from the farm to our supermarket shelves, gaining a deeper appreciation for where our meals come from.
In art, we will be exploring all things colour and paint to reimagine the famous work of Piet Mondrian. We'll utilise techniques such as colour mixing, manipulating tone and using different paintbrush sizes for different effects. We will all become mini abstract artists by the end of this topic.
This term we will be focusing on world geography; comparing two very different capital cities. We will find out:
- Where to find London and Beijing on a map,
- How big they are, including their population size,
- Any human and physical features, such as key landmarks.
