This term, our budding artists will embark on an exciting journey into the world of abstract art, inspired by the renowned Dutch painter Piet Mondrian. We will delve into the fundamentals of colour theory, exploring primary and secondary colors and experimenting with colour mixing. We will also investigate the interplay of thick and thin lines through the use of a variety of paintbrushes. To further enrich our understanding, we will explore the concept of tone, learning how to create lighter and darker shades of colors. To culminate our exploration, students will create their own unique Mondrian-inspired artworks, first sketching their designs and then bringing them to life using the painting techniques they have learned.
